I got the job!

Well, I got the job at Atlantis Elementary School :o)  I'll be their new bookkeeper, and I'm very excited.  This week I went to shadow the current bookkeeper for a few hours Monday and Tuesday, which also served to introduce Liana to the home daycare.  She did great on Monday!  Ate, drank water, played, and even took a 1.5hr nap!  Tuesday she did ok but didn't take a nap.  I figured it was just because she slept a little late that morning, so she took a nap when we got home.  Wednesday didn't go so well.  I dropped her off, but a half-hour later the mom called me to let me know that she had been hysterical since I left.  She didn't think something was right being that Liana had done so well the past two days.  I went to pick her up and decided to take her to the doctor.... she had gotten a cold two weekends prior which was lingering, so I thought I'd better be safe and get her checked out just to be sure.  Sure enough, she had double ear infections!  She got antibiotic shots (they split the dose since it's kinda thick) and I've had to go back the following two days to get more shots since it's a series of three.  Now during the night last night she developed a high fever, and it's been 103.5 all day.  So today, at our third doctor visit (still seeing a ped in Orlando mind you, which we've got to find someone closer soon!), Liana got a stick stuck up her nose for a flu test, blood drawn to check for bacterial infection, AND the third shot of antibiotic.  Fun times.  So now I've been overlapping Motrin and Tylenol as directed to treat her fever.  The office called back and said her white cell count is a little elevated, but not high enough to treat just yet as a bacterial infection, so we're just treating the fever for now.  She's been so out of it, and now I'm just so nervous about daycare next week.  I start work on Wednesday for good, and I just want her to be ok.  I don't want to have to worry about her crying all day without me :o(  Brian keeps telling me it'll be ok, but I keep getting more worked up in my head about it.  I hope everything turns out ok.  Everyone says she will adapt, so I'm hoping their right.

I'm not doing to good with this updating thing, but here goes!  Brian, Liana, and I are doing ok.  We keep getting colds :o(  Liana's food issues are still the same.  We've taken her to a couple specialists, but no one who is willing to help.  Food allergy/intolerance is not a subject well-covered in medical school apparently, so they just tell me whatever they want... most of which does not pertain to Liana.  For instance, the GI (digestive systems) specialist knew she had a milk allergy yet prescribed her a constipation medicine derived from MILK!  She insisted that Liana should not react to it, but I know she did.  Also, the allergist (whom I was hoping would be able to help me figure out what foods are still bothering Liana) told me that since she didn't test positive to any food besides milk (which those tests aren't very reliable anyway), that I should feed her everything in moderation because it's not going to kill her.  Well it may not kill her, but she will be up during the night screaming from gas and tummy cramps!  As soon as we have the money I am going to send off for a saliva test that will tell me what foods are triggers for Liana's system.  The test is more alternative medicine, but conventional doctors are not helping her anyway so I need to take other measures to get the answers we need.

Also, I had a job interview at the beginning of the week.  I will find out tomorrow if I will be the bookkeeper at Atlantis Elementary.  We have Liana signed up at a great home daycare, so hopefully all will go well.  I am very nervous about it all (nothing new for me!), but am trying to keep everything in perspective.  Wish me luck!

recovering....

Liana and I have been sick since last week :o(  We both have a sinus infection or cold, and Liana also had a horrible time with a banana.  Her pediatrician is sending her to a specialist because she is having so much trouble digesting food, so hopefully they will be able to help her.  We are picking up Annsley and Sydney on Thursday and flying to Alabama to spend Easter with my dad, step-mom and family, and my Uncle Phil.  We are really looking forward to it!  Hopefully we are all well by then....

It's Us :-)

Dedication

IMG_0437.JPG
Yesterday we attended our god-child, Ryleigh Shaye's, dedication service.  It was very special and she looked so beautiful in her gown, a baptismal gown that has been worn by members of her family for over 100 years.  Afterwards we went to Jason and Michelle's for a cookout celebration.  It was a great day :o)

Lots of updates!

~Not that anyone reads these, but I'll try to be more consistent with my posts!

There's so much that has changed since my last post!  I received three job offers in one day a couple weeks ago.  I have chosen to work a temporary position (6 weeks) in the aftercare at the school I worked at before having Liana.  I work from 1:30-6:30 M-F, and while I'm at work one of the mom's I'm friends with from the school watches Liana.  I started last Friday, but since Liana was sick with a sinus infection Brian stayed home with her Friday and Monday.  Yesterday was her first day with Ms. Helen and she did great!  Helen has two boys (4 and 9), a little dog that loves to "kiss" Liana, and TONS of toys!  Hopefully Liana will continue to do just as well in the future as she did yesterday.

Brian and I were also exploring our options for moving to Tallahassee, but we've since dismissed that idea.  Terri, Annsley and Sydney's mom, is hoping to move back to Avon Park over the summer because her sister just moved back there.  They will be MUCH closer to us if they move there, so hopefully they will!

Liana is doing great!  She is starting to walk!!  She loves to hold our hand and walk around, but is getting braver and braver about venturing out on her own.  She has also gotten her two front teeth this past week and is now working on the two top teeth on either side.  We're still dealing with food reactions, but I think that will just be a continuing problem for awhile :o(  Aside from that and the occasional cold, she is healthy healthy healthy!

And last but definitely not least.......  My god-daughter, Ryleigh Shaye Kaufman was born on January 30th!!!!  She was 7lbs 3oz and 19 inches long.  She is BEAUTIFUL and PERFECT :o)  Mommy Michelle is doing well also, trying to get used to having two little ones to care for!

job saga

Well, Astronaut High didn't interview me.  I thought they were required to since I'm a school board employee, but they didn't because I didn't have all the qualifications for that position. Oh well....  Now I just have to keep an eye on the website for more job postings.  Meanwhile Brian and I have been exploring the possibility of relocating to Tallahassee.  Annsley and Sydney live near there and we'd really like to be closer to them.  It's getting harder and harder only being able to see them about once a month.  We want to be able to see them more often and be involved in their activities.  Annsley is becoming quite the musician, playing the baritone in the 6th grade band.  She was invited to compete in Solo & Ensemble this spring, a competition that is usually reserved for 7th graders and above, because she is doing so well.  And I'm sure that once Sydney is in the higher grades where she can take art classes there will be many art competitions and shows to attend too!  Brian has applied for several jobs there with the big-name cellphone companies.  He would love to be a part of that industry being as cellphone technology has long been one of his passions!  And with the degree he is working on he would definitely be able to move up in the company.  Who knows what will happen.  We'll have to wait and see if the right opportunity becomes available.
